Holding a charity fund-raising pasta dinner in the middle of a national pandemic was a daunting task, but members of the Fairport Rotary Club accomplished it with great success in late October thanks to strong support from the Fairport-Perinton community and the donations of generous sponsors.
“We were pleased and thankful for a great turnout, which led to our best-ever results for our annual dinner,” said Connie Borkhuis, who co-chaired the event with Heinrich Fischer. “We will put the money raised to good use supporting many local charities.”
Unlike years past, the Oct. 25 event was a take-out only affair, with customers picking up their dinners on a drive-thru basis only. More than 500 dinners were sold.
“The community support was amazing,” Borkhuis said, “but our good profits would not have been possible without the donations of these sponsors: Amazing Grains Co. of Fairport, BJ’s Wholesale Club of Victor, LiDestri Foods of Fairport, Palmer Food Services of Rochester, Skip’s Meat Market of Fairport, Wegmans Supercenter in Perinton, and Waste Management at High Acres in Perinton. We can’t thank them enough for helping us and helping our community.”
